The Morton Art of Salt contest's website will always have a special place in my heart. This was my first project out of college, and I owned it all the way from design concept to the midnight launch. I'm honored Next/Now trusted me with this project, and am proud to say it played out pretty flawlessly. It was definitely a challenge.
My project manager and I worked directly with Morton to create a site allowing contestents the ability to submit designs to be featured on Morton’s signature salt canisters. The submitted designs were then dynamically superimposed on the canisters and displayed on the site to be voted on.
The site was built from the ground up in PHP—Under the directon from Next/Now and Morton I designed and developed everything—including account creation & management, password recovery, admin access & voting capabilities, file uploading & management, template creation & downloads, and all site maitenence and management during the course of the competition.
The winning designs were displayed on giant Morton Salt canisters at a branded event in Chicago.
